Rise presents: Umek
Slovenian-born Umek brings his aggressive techno stylings to RISE after-hours for a special Sunday night set, celebrating Memorial Day weekend and the official start of summer. Umek’s career reflects one of hard work and dedication. As a result he has a long list of awards and accolades, consistently placing in top 100 DJ lists, recently earning #3 in the Techno category for DJ Mag in 2009. Approaching almost 20 years, his career is also a lengthy one, with over 500 original productions to boast. He has unmatched experience, and his hard work has led him to become recognized as his one of his countries principle musical exports. He is known as “Fotr” – or, the father of Slovenian techno, and now headlines at the most highly regarded clubs & festivals throughout the world – from Miami’s Ultra Music Festival to Serbia’s Exit Festival. Of course, he has also compiled an Essential Mix for Pete Tong’s seminal BBC Radio 1 mix series – perhaps the most ubiquitous milestone for any electronic music artist who as “made it.”
