Boston's Queen of Techno, Volvox has been pushing the sound and spirit of Berlin dance culture since 2006. Her sensitive and energetic sets have made her a favorite among party devotees. From her popular residencies at Cambridge's weekly Thursday Make It New and Basstown's monthly Visions to guest sets at all of Boston's best bars, clubs and basements, no matter the situation she captures the crowd like few others can. As a co-organizer and resident DJ of the industrial/techno crossover Back Magic parties in Boston (2007), she developed a series of events that were as much visual experiences as aural. Past guests included fellow design/DJ duo Dethlab from Detroit, electro-maximalists Motor from London, and minimal techno giants Pan-Pot from Berlin. The Black Magic parties were even given a nod by none other than DJ Hell, who commented that the atmosphere of the events were in the same vein as the work he has been doing himself for the past 10 years. As part of the Basstown crew she has helped bring the hottest live electronic acts and groundbreaking young producers from around the country and the world to Boston. Parties headlined by Gui Boratto, Drop the Lime and Diplo broke new ground for electronic music in Boston. Local legends Passion Pit played their breakout show at Basstown's Great Scott Residency as well. Her residency at Cambridge's Make It New is the areas premier party for new House and Techno. In addition to bringing in leading artists such as Marcel Dettmann, Sian, Insideout and Roman Flugel to play the wonderfully intimate Middlesex Lounge, Make It New's strong core of residents keep the party jumping week after week.
