Fens is one of many student DJs on the scene these days, but he’s one of the few who stand out. A native of Connecticut, Fens (aka Matt Rohr) is a Boston resident and music kid at heart. He’s been appearing at popular clubs, concert venues, and parties for about a year and a half, and his combinations of dope beats, catchy tunes, and always-appropriate vocals are a perfect accompaniment to head-bobbing and dancing like nobody’s watching. The artists he chooses to mix with and his affinity for finding creative ways to make different songs interact are things of rarity when it comes to DJs these days, but his heavy involvement in instrumental performance pre-college lends itself to the obvious musicality of his tracks; you can tell he puts a lot of thought into the way things go in his mixes.
A little 20 minute mix from one of Boston’s favorites, educating us in contemporary genre-defying dance weaponry.
