courtesy of nat geo: “Collision bound, the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are hurtling toward each other at 300,000 miles (480,000 kilometers) an hour. It will take several billion years before their violent tango ensues, but for a preview, astrophysicists can look at this Hubble image of an actual sideswipe of galaxies called The Mice. Prognosis for our solar system: either flung safely into spaceāor blasted by radiation from supernovae at the center of the new galaxy.”
While we wait a few billion years for the most epic cosmic event our galaxy will (or maybe wouln’t) ever see, you and I have the opportunity to witness a slightly different cosmic phenomenon, being Flying Lotus’ new album entitled ‘Cosmogramma’. This post is coming a tad late as the album has been in play for about a week now, but for something like this I wanted to wait until I had the album in hand (well… digitally in hand anyway) and had sat through the whole thing start to finish before reviewing. My prognosis: that is exactly how this album should be listened to. It is no secret that LA beat-man Flying Lotus is eccentric, but I but I believe with Cosmogramma has gone beyond his usual and has flushed his sound to a level where the textures created transcend the LA beat scene. Hints of jazz abound, FlyLo is now (or should be) on the map to any of those who were previously unaware. Check out these favs then buy the album here
