LINKS Soundclash @ BASSIC – 3/31
The local scene kicked Spring off right on Wednesday. Big ups to our friend DJ Dabu for putting together LINKS soundclash, an amazing event (held at Boston’s local subsonic worship BASSIC) that featured all original and all local Boston dubsteppers. Along with that came a fantastic compilation CD that featured all of the performing acts as well as others (including UnheardUv’s own DJ Zion). It was really inspiring to see all the local talent that came out of the woodwork to put on what was an entirely RUCKUS show. The CD has also helped to clarify what was was slightly blurred by the alcohol at the time… the fact that Boston really does have a kicking underground Dubstep scene. Something we’re sure to see much more of in the coming months.
Check out this video of our friend Kuhn throwing down at LINKS to get a good idea of what went down, and be sure to peep these tracks off the compilation aswell

No Tomorrow @ The Machine – 4/3
Saturday brought out the professionals as Boston was graced with one of the biggest names in “Filthstep” along with the always solid Trouble and Bass representative Star Eyes at what quickly became one of my new fav DJ events No Tomorrow. While Star Eyes threw down some very impressive classic and innovative house, the really crazy shit was going on in what was called the “2012 Lounge”, where Liquid Stranger was delivering some of the dirtiest frequencies I’ve heard in this city in a loong long time.
NOTE TO DJ’s AND PRODUCERS : Watch out for this dude. If you ever get to see Liquid Stranger live take a peek at his set up. There’s absolutely no laptop involved and all his bass comes straight out some kind of modular synth. I’ve never seen anything like it. Peep the video below to see what I’m talking about

Major Lazer and Rusko @ The Middle East Downstairs – 4/4
Last but not least.. the much sought after Rusko/Major Lazer show. I’m not really going to go in to how awesome the music was (really like… how could it be bad?) but what really made me happy was how into it the crowd was. Clearly they all knew exactly who these artists were, and why they were so important. Boston did us proud as we showed some real proper love to some of the biggest names out there right now. Go us. Now let’s bring some more acts like this!
FOR THOSE WHO DID NOT GET TICKETS: Never fear, at least Rusko will be back some time in July. Heard it from the man himself so get excited!
In the meantime. Check out these videos -
the first is of Rusko, who is def one of the most energetic DJ’s I’ve ever seen.
the second if of Major Lazers awesome laser show (duh)
