Philadelphia native Starkey has always been a producer we’ve kept our eyes on. He seems to have a special knack for producing hot dubstep and downtempo beats that in no way rely on the wobble bass that so many producers have become obsessed with. Instead, he makes use of well sculpted kicks and snairs that provide the perfect backdrop for melodies that range anywhere between outer space and the dirtiest ground.
Fresh off a more ‘outer-space’ themed release off of the always impressive Planet Mu records, called Stars, Starkey it seems will remains on top and keep on climbing for years to come. Peep this track off the latest album then go buy it! Trust me… it’s hot shit!
On a completely different note, Starkey also was featured on a very noteworthy remix album coming out of Adult Swim’s Stones Throw label called ATL RMX, which featured remixes of Atlanta’s hottest rappers by some very hot producers including Flying Lotus and Prefuse 73.
