It’s time to sip on that purple nectar once again. the BASSNECTAR (aka Lorin) has graced us with yet another free mashup over at his website Bassnectar.net in preparation for his new EP entitled TimeStretch, which has been available exclusively on Beatport for the past week (it will be available elsewhere on the 30th).
The mashup is basically a bass heavy take on Nelly Furtado’s ‘Turn Off the Light’… a song from a number of years ago before she went all ‘beyonce’ on us and started making albums with Timbaland. The original is quite good and if your a fan of it and bass music I definitely recommend the track. I would critique bassnectar only in that the mashup is very minimal (much like his last mashup of the Pixies’ ‘Where is My Mind’) so if you’re looking for that signature Bassnectar bounce you might be disappointed. This track seems more suited to contemplating life with it as background music rather than dance-floor mayhem.

As far as Bassnectar’s new EP is concerned, the verdict is the exact opposite. This thing is HUUUUGE and kicks like a motherfucker. Turn your speakers up loud and start bouncing as I give you one of the 8 tracks on TimeStretch, entitled ‘Bass Head’. Let me reiterate… this is opposite of small.
